The Liberal Democrats are delighted that our former Vice President, Isabelle Parasram, has been awarded the Order of The British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty The Queen, in recognition of her Political and Public Service.

The announcement has been made in the Queen’s New Years Honours List and is published in the London Gazette of 1 Jan 2022.
Isabelle previously served as vice-president of the Liberal Democrats, as a member of its federal board, and as a patron for a network for political donors. She is also a past Parliamentary and London Assembly candidate for the party.
Responding to the news, Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey MP, said: “We are absolutely delighted to hear that Isabelle has received this award, which is richly deserved for her distinguished and tireless service within politics and indeed beyond.

“Her enduring legacy within the Liberal Democrats is reflected in her work on democratic engagement, diversity and social justice, which is greatly respected by the party and something we continue to aspire towards.”
Local Liberal Democrat Councillor Sam Al-Hamdani added: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Isabelle over the past year, developing policies, organising events, and adding depth and insight into Liberal thinking and action.
“Working with her has been an incredible opportunity, and it has been remarkable to work first hand with senior members of parliament, develop policy, and have a real impact on national politics. None of that would have been possible without Isabelle reaching out and making it possible for me to engage at the highest level. Being a Liberal is about creating opportunities for others, and Isabelle embodies that both in her work inside and outside the party, and it’s an honour to have worked with her.”
