Sam Al-Hamdani

Sam Al-Hamdani, shadow cabinet for housing and homelessness

As borough councillor for Saddleworth West and Lees, and parish councillor for Springhead Lower, I am delighted to represent Lees, Springhead and Grotton.

I am currently the Shadow Cabinet member for Housing and Homelessness, as well as the party spokesperson for Saddleworth. Housing is a major issue in our region, where there is a clear clash between the need to deliver more, better housing, and to maintain our green spaces. This is always going to be a major challenge for us, which must be answered with fairness, consideration and transparency.

I am passionate about delivering for every resident in my ward, whether that’s through working on individual cases for residents, improving services, and holding the Labour administration to account.

I am a keen environmental campaigner (a member of the Green Liberal Democrats), and have worked previously in the environmental sector, promoting British green businesses overseas for the Department of the Environment.

Fair taxation is another key passion, and I have worked to develop policy to change the UK’s tax system, ensuring a level playing field for businesses and individuals.
