Responding to the Prime Minister finally meeting with bereaved families who lost loved ones to Covid, and announcing the chair of the Covid inquiry will be appointed before Christmas, Ed Davey MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, said: “Bereaved families have already waited far too long for this inquiry. The Prime Minister promised me last July that he would hold one, but we have seen no progress in over a year.
“The Prime Minister must get on with it now, so we can learn the lessons and prevent further unnecessary deaths – no more delays, no more excuses.
“It is vital that this inquiry is properly independent and has the full confidence of the bereaved. The Government must consult them in choosing the chair and drafting the terms of reference.”
